Our website contains useful information for anyone who is interested in drying fruit or purchasing a food dehydrator.

Welcome to our website. Here you will find plenty of suppliers and information on fruit dehydrators to help you research the proper unit for your needs. With a wide variety of units on the market, finding the right one can be a cumbersome task. There are units ranging from countertop models to large rigid models that have removable trays and require their own dedicated space. We hope to simplify your fruit dehydrator search and ultimately simplify your transition to a healthful diet.

Choosing the right unit is important. There are many factors to consider when picking a fruit dehydrator. One must consider how much space is available to store their unit, types of fruit and foods one wishes to dehydrate, and amount of foods to be dehydrated at one time. There are two categories to home fruit dehydrators. There are models that have stackable trays, and models that are housed by a rigid box and come with removable shelves. Space is important when selecting a dehydrator because they can vary in size from countertop models to free standing models. Some models move hot-air vertically utilizing a base mounted fan. Alternatively, some models move air horizontally utilizing rear-mounted fans. Some use convection drying that do not require a fan at all.

Countertop Fruit Dehydrators

Countertop fruit dehydrators offer an inexpensive and space efficient method of drying fruits. Some of these models feature stackable trays and offer expansion trays at an additional cost. There are units that have top mounted fans and rear mounted fans alike. There are also models with base mounted fans. However I've read many reviews on fruit dehydrators and some complained about the potential of dripping liquids into the motor in units with base mounted fans. Units that feature top mounted fans typically push heat and air down through the chambers eliminate the possibility of dripping liquids into the motor.

Countertop models are a great way to get started and are generally inexpensive. All these fruit dehydrators share the same big pitfall. They distribute heat unevenly. The trays that are closest to the fan and heating element dry much faster than trays located further away from the fan. These types of countertop fruit dehydrators require diligent tray rotation.

Stand Alone Fruit Dehydrators

These are more suitable for the serious more advanced home dehydrator. Not to say that one can't start out with these types of units, they use alot more space and are more difficult to store. So if you only plan to do occasional drying, a countertop unit may be more suitable for you. On the otherhand, if you want the supreme flexibility of drying anything, very quickly, evenly and efficiently - and don't mind the space it takes up, these fruit dehydrators would be most suitable for you.

These units are typically equipped with rear mounted fans. For that reason, they are more durable and eliminate worries of dripping liquids into the machinery. They are larger than the countertop variety and can accomodate more fruit at one time. These fruit dehydrators do not rely on pressure. They have lots of space and allow for maximum air circulation and speedy drying. The heating elements emit warm dehydrating air ranging in temperatures of 85ºF to 145ºF suitable for not only fruit dehydrating but for nearly anything imaginable.
